The purpose of the Conference Work Archive is twofold:
First, the archive provides the college and other
interested parties with a listing of conference works descriptions, both in
progress and completed. The hope
is, that by making this information available, interdisciplinary discourse
between students and faculty will
emerge.
Secondly, the archive would serve as a developing historical document
of independent student work at
Sarah Lawrence. Each description of a given conference project is
considered complete by the end of the
semester, making the document unrevisable, hence and undeniable historical
document.
The goal of this project
is to capitalize on the conference system -- a distinguishing feature of
the pedagogical system at Sarah
Lawrence -- as a vital resource for the community and a central marketing
ploy for prospective students.
